Our Story

From passion to profession

STOW began in 2015 as a small roastery in Ljubljana’s creative district. What started as a passion project for exceptional coffee quickly evolved into a trusted wholesale partner for Slovenia’s leading cafés and restaurants.

Our founders, trained baristas and Q-graders, recognized a gap in the market: specialty coffee roasters who could deliver both exceptional quality and operational reliability at scale. We built STOW to bridge that gap.

Today, we serve over 200 partner locations across Slovenia and neighboring countries, roasting 24 carefully selected origins and signature blends. Every batch is cupped, tested, and documented to ensure consistency that professionals can depend on.

Our commitment extends beyond the cup. We work directly with producers, ensuring fair pricing and sustainable practices. We invest in education, offering training and technical support to our partners. We believe great coffee requires great relationships at every level.

Aleš Turšič

Roaster and CEO

Aleš is the heart and soul of Stow Coffee. As an experienced roaster, he is dedicated to the art of coffee roasting and to ensuring a high quality product. He is also the owner of the company and takes responsibility for the direction and development of the team.

Tanja Turšič

Head of Accounting

The Head of Accounting and Finance at Stow Roasters plays a key role in the financial management of the company.

Klemen Hosta

Customer care and logistics

Klemen is responsible for customer care and successful coffee delivery. With his friendly nature and organisational skills, he ensures that customers are satisfied and that the coffee is delivered to the right places on time.

Franci Fink

Service Manager

Franci is the Service Manager, who ensures that the equipment is properly maintained and repaired, and that the coffee is prepared to the highest standard. His technical expertise is key to the smooth running of the roastery.

Peter Ševič

Wholesale and Stow Academy

Peter is responsible for quality control, sourcing of raw coffee, running the Stow Academy and customer training. He is also responsible for the marketing and graphic design of the Stow roastery. He uses his creativity and professionalism to promote the roastery and ensure a unique customer experience.

Stow Cafe Manager

Sebastjan is the manager of the Stow café in Ljubljana. He is focused on delivering exceptional quality coffee. His dedication and expertise is reflected in every cup that delights our guests.

We work directly with producers and cooperatives, ensuring fair compensation and sustainable practices at origin.

Origin partnerships

We maintain long-term relationships with producers in 12 countries across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. These partnerships allow us to secure the best lots while supporting farming communities.

Quality Assessment

Every lot is pre-shipment cupped and graded. We only purchase coffees scoring 84+ on the SCA scale. Our team visits origins regularly to assess quality and build relationships.

Fair pricing

We pay premiums above commodity prices, typically 20-40% higher than C-market. This ensures producers can invest in quality, infrastructure, and sustainable practices.

2015

Foundation

STOW founded in Ljubljana. First 5kg sample roaster. Initial partnerships with 3 local cafés.

2017

First Expansion

Moved to larger facility. Purchased first Loring 15kg roaster. Reached 25 wholesale partners.

2019

Direct Trade Program

Established direct relationships with producers in Colombia and Ethiopia. First origin visit trips.

2021

Current facility

Moved to 800m² facility. Added second Loring 35kg roaster. Professional cupping lab. Reached 100 partners.

2023

Regional Expansion

Expanded delivery network to neighboring countries. Launched education program. 200+ active partners.
